The CCE-Orleans Board of Directors meets in alternating months, generally on the 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm in the Cooperative Extension Education Center, 12690 State Route 31 in Albion, unless otherwise stated. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

DECEMBER 5, 2023 Annual meeting

Our 2023 Annual meeting will include voting on an updated constitution, dinner, awards for Friend of Extension, Friend of 4-H, Outstanding 4-H Club Leader, and program reports.

Please join us at the White Birch on December 5 @6:00 with meal at 6:30. RSVP by November 27. Dinner is $25 per attendee.

Here are the bios for our candidates to the board.

_____Karen Des JardinAfter a career in Engineering at the Eastman Kodak Company, Karen pursued interests as an interpreter of 19th century history, trades and lifestyles at the Genesee Country Village & Museum. Karen completed the Master Gardener Certification program and was an active volunteer for several years. She obtained her Master Food Preserver Certification in 2014 and continues to volunteer in that role, teaching food preservation classes at OCCCE. Karen and her husband Bill are residents of the Town of Clarendon.

_____Tina Neal

Tina is married to Jeremy Neal she is a stay-at-home mom. They have a daughter (12) and an 8 yr old son who passed in April 2023. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom Tina studied at MCC & received her associate degree in applied sciences. She went on to work at Monroe Boces ll as a teacher aide for 4 years. Tina has worked in retail- locally she worked for Walmart, and Albion Ace Hardware. She also assists her husband during fair week in the Farm Credit milkshake booth, plus during the hay bail rolling

_____Jessica Decker
Jess currently works as a Quality, Food Safety and Sanitation Manager at Nortera Foods, (formally Bonduelle/Allens), which specializes in retail and foodservice packaging of frozen vegetables grown locally in Western NY. Of the 13 North American Nortera locations, her plant is located in Brockport NY, where she has held this role for 7 years. She lives with her husband Benjamin of 16 years, and their five children, Adelina (11), Michael (9), Evie (5) and fraternal twin boys Jack and Vincent (2). Her oldest two children are involved in 4H programming through Kendall CSD, and show their rabbit projects at the fair. Since her 4H days in Orleans County, Jessica has been passionate about showing and breeding Rex Rabbits, and got her start in the Orleans County Rabbit Raisers Club as a child, she has maintained that hobby into adulthood, and now shows Nationwide and has her lines in breeding programs around the world. Jess is active in both regional and National Rex Rabbit clubs, including offices of President of the Mason Dixon Rex Rabbit Club (an east coast regional club), President of the Northeast Rex Club (NY/PA/New England regional club), serves as the Vice President of the National Rex Rabbit Club and chairs the National Show Judge Selection Committee for that National club as well. Jessica is a member of Class 18 of Cornell's LEAD NY, a leadership development program for people working in food, agriculture and natural resource sectors within NY state. Participation in the LEAD NY program has uncovered a desire to serve locally, and wanting to serve this organization specifically is rooted in deep appreciation for the 4H programs and activities she experienced as a child, and anticipation of the programming and opportunities available for her own children as they are involved in these programs.

_____Marissa Hanlon
Marisa works as a Physician Assistant in the Department of Surgery at Unity Hospital. She serves as the surgical PA representative on the geriatric surgical verification committee, in which Unity Hospital was the first hospital in the country to receive verification by the American College of Surgeons to meet standardized quality criteria for geriatric surgery. She is currently a member of HPDC and is one of the Horse Barn Superintendent’s at Orleans County Fair. Through many years as a 4H member and current participation with the 4H program, she recognizes the impact 4H and CCE has on both 4-H youth and Orleans County community members. Marisa is seeking election to the board in order to better serve her local community.
